Bangalore does not offer much of a relaxing place compared to other cities. Most of the weekends are spent in shopping, visiting malls and restuarants. Getting fresh air is tough and seeing a smokeless zone is becoming a very costly affair. Trying to get away from pollution and population is a big record in Bangalore. Even on I-Day, there is no freedom from the rush of vehicles on road and independence from the smoke they emit.
But, unlike other cities, Bangalore offers a lot of parks to bring down the smoke and the air hazards they pose. These green patches in the city are a gift and with the overwhelming population of hte city, they have become the haven for a significant number of people to spend relaxing times away from the haphazard traffic - atleast you get sometime to admire nature, breath fresh air and get rejuvenated by nature.
Lalbagh and Cubbon Park are well known green spots in the day-by-day decaying city.
The I-Day Flower Show at Lalbagh Park this time also took place inspite of the heavy and huge terrorist attack-warnings. To beat the traffic out in the park, me & my wife took to the Glass House early in the morning. There were a lot of exhibits and already prizes announced. HAL had a cornucopia of exhibits - the chrysanthemums, ferns were great. Also, for the first time I was able to see a King Protea. The central exhibit of a globe with roses was great.
Some photos that I shot at the event ..... I was not very satisfied with my new camera, expecially when I wanted to take macro shots of flowers. :(
