It's been a very long time since I had taken to reading fiction books. The last but one I read was the famous Da Vinci Code. It was the controversy about the book together with my interest in reading history/ mythological / occult topics that made me take the book. After this, I had been reading a lot of non-fictional books over time - especially more on the biographical and more on self-help front - apart from Management and Technical books.
Recently, my friend Sada, asked me to try Clive Cussler on the fictional side. I took Inca Gold and it was almost a month since I had started to flick the pages - I rarely found time to get to the book to read through it because of work pressure as well as developments in the personal front.
Inspite of the book being a eye-opener on what NUMA does and details on the Inca Trail, I found the book to be like another Indiana Jones stuff. The hero, Dirk Pitt, is like another Indian cinema hero. He comes out of nothing, takes the situation in his hands and he is the only one who has the solution to solve the situation. Sometimes, it is very hilarious to read this, but I stayed put to complete the book, just to get any more extra information the author provided on the trail or NUMA or any related topic - and not certainly for the super heroic acts of Dirk !!!
