Engineering Graduates

Recently I was involved in a debate with my old college friends about an issue that got importance in a bad manner. Most of the engineering graduates in India come not from the creamy and famous IITs, RECs & IISc - but from a lot many private engineering colleges. With so many engineering colleges around the states & the country, there is a wide disparity in the level of graduates being churned out each year. This brings in a lot of commotion and helplessness when companies go in for recruitment - on and off campus.

With the number of engineering grads coming out each year, for a country like India, it is easy to handle any situation. But, the quality of the grads coming out is so pathetic that only one out of four of the passing grads are eligible for employment in the industry. If this is the case, India, inspite of boasting that it is the host for a lot of organizations, may inturn have to admit that it is not able to handle the needs of it's guests here.
